We did setup WSUS om a serve 2008 R2 SP1, we did create a policy link the policy to an ou and add the servers to this OU, now when we add windows 7 or server 2008 server s to this OU, we can see them in the WSUS console, but when add server 2012 to this OU we cannot see them in the WSUS consloe but when I go to the same server 2012 registery HLM\software\policy\windowsupdate there I can see that window uodate pointing to the WSUS server and also on the same server 2012 when I go to the windows updates there I can see that WSUS policy has been applied to this server becuse most of the option are grayout.
so question is does WSUS on server 2008 R2 support window 2012 and windows 8?

Based on your description, I understand your problem is that the Windows 2012 server does not list in the WSUS console on your Windows 2008 R2 server, so you want to know if the WSUS is support Windows 2012 server and Windows 8. Please correct me if I have misunderstood anything.
Before moving on, just I want to confirm with you that do you use the WSUS 3.0 SP2 on the Windows 2008 R2server?
Meanwhile, this is a known issue and we have a update to let servers that are running Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) 3.0 SP2 provide updates to computers that are running Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012. For your reference, I recommend you may refer to the MS KB2734608
